Program Expectations & Guidelines

PowerUP is built on three core values: Self-Regulation, Resilience, and Respect. Everyone in the program — students, parents, and instructors — plays an important role in making it work.

The Program is 100% Free

PowerUP’s martial arts program is fully covered by our scholarship fund — there are no costs to participating families. If you are ever asked to pay for equipment, uniforms, or additional classes, please contact our Program Manager immediately.

Student Expectations

  • Listen to the instructor (Sensei) and all staff
  • Address adults as Sir and Ma’am
  • Bow to Sensei before and after every class
  • No bullying, taunting, or foul language
  • No fits of anger — practice self-regulation
  • Show up for every class and be on time
  • Work hard toward your goals

Parent & Guardian Expectations

  • Bring your child to every class and pick them up on time
  • Reinforce program values at home
  • Complete the Strengths & Difficulties Survey each September
  • Complete the Behavior Survey each January
  • Note: failure to participate in surveys may affect scholarship standing

Student Code of Conduct

  • Zero tolerance for bullying, stealing, or destruction of property
  • Code of Conduct is enforced in all PowerUP classes
  • Violations may lead to expulsion at the discretion of PowerUP and our partners
  • Consistent attendance is required to keep a scholarship in good standing
