At PowerUP, we’re dedicated to nurturing versatile talents in our scholars, just like Michael, who exemplifies the art of juggling multiple passions while living with ADHD. Balancing soccer and martial arts, Michael’s dedication is truly commendable.
Fueled by the values of respect instilled in martial arts, Michael tactfully refrains from showing off the physical karate skills anywhere outside of class. Instead, he channels his training to navigate emotions, stay motivated, and stay fully immersed in every endeavor. On challenging school days, especially after grappling with complex math classes, Michael’s mother told me he “finds solace” in his virtual martial arts classes with sensei Richard and he has “a space to shed daily struggles and embrace the opportunity to learn.”
This discipline, fostered both in martial arts and academics, has broadened Michael’s horizons, igniting dreams of future competitions under the guidance of Sensei Richard. What’s even more inspiring is that Michael’s enthusiasm has spurred his younger sibling to join Friday classes, forging a supportive sibling bond. Together, they contemplate the prospect of making martial arts a full-time pursuit, all made possible through the convenience of PowerUP offering them in-studio, after-school, or virtual classes.
At PowerUP, we’re dedicated to reaching as many students as possible, accommodating various schedules and preferences. We offer multiple types of classes to ensure that our scholars and their families can choose the option that best suits their needs.
